Burt Munro spent 50 years turning a 1920 Indian Scout into a world-record streamliner. He hand-cast pistons with a blowlamp, carved connecting rods from tractor axles, and re-machined a Bosch magneto by hand to fire the Scout's specific 42.5-degree V-twin correctly. The result was a 950cc methanol-breathing monster that hit 184.087 mph at Bonneville on August 25, 1967. This feat was achieved by a 68-year-old farmer from New Zealand on a 47-year-old motorcycle. Drop it in gear and feel why!
